Planning range before GST: . This is ±25% around the working allowance, rounded outward to $100. It is a budget policy, not a validated accuracy interval.
Ramp review required. The displayed figure excludes ramp-specific labour, equipment and treatment. It is not a complete budget for your sloped access.
A starting point, not a booking or contract. Normal snowfall assumed. Deep or compacted snow, extraordinary storms, hauling, special materials, readiness reserves and dedicated equipment require review. Route capacity is not checked.
CLEAR ANSWERS BEFORE WINTER
The useful answer starts with what must be cleared. A house driveway, a storefront frontage and a strata’s shared paths are different scopes. PlowWow’s quick examples start at $75 for a walkway and steps, $125 for a single driveway and walkway, and $150 for a storefront frontage, before GST and subject to normal conditions. They are provisional examples, not a quote for every address. Lots, ramps and larger sites need review.
Identify the driveway, municipal sidewalk frontage, front entrance and any agreed rear access. Do not include the home’s floor area. If the standard small-job scope fits, start with the address estimator; do not assume a larger-site minimum is the same product.
Add shared pedestrian routes and the open surfaces crews must clear. Mark parkade ramps, loading areas and tight access separately. A unit count or parking-stall count does not establish the whole clearing scope. Ask for service boundaries, snow storage and excluded private paths in writing.
A seasonal agreement sets a defined winter scope. A five-visit package groups an agreed number of clears. Single visits depend on availability. This tool’s visit scenario estimates a working service allowance; it does not issue any of those contracts or apply an unconfirmed package discount.
Use the calculator for Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, New Westminster, North and West Vancouver, Surrey, Langley, Delta, White Rock, Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows and the listed Fraser Valley municipalities. Choosing a city does not verify an address, confirm route capacity or measure snow exposure. Steep, upland and exposed properties need their own review.
No. You provide approximate surface measurements. There is no satellite takeoff or automatic slope assessment. Use a site plan or measure the serviceable areas, then have PlowWow check the scope before accepting a quote.
Ice treatment may be needed between snowfall events. In this beta, an additional salt-only visit is half the combined rate. Ten combined visits and twenty additional salt-only visits therefore equal twenty service equivalents—not thirty full-price combined visits.
No. The range describes a planning policy around the entered assumptions. The written proposal must define visit obligations, weather triggers, dates, materials, caps, exclusions and extra-work authorization. A higher or lower actual service requirement can change the reviewed plan.
The calculator runs in your browser. No account, name, phone or email is required to see results. Downloading an estimate does not send it to PlowWow. Choosing a formal quote carries the details into your browser’s session for review; you submit the separate enquiry when ready.

THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT. A CLEARER QUOTE.
Truck and salter, skid steer or compact quad setup: compare the complete working combination, including the operator and any travel or delivery. Equipment is selected after checking your access, clearing area and snow-storage plan.

For vehicle-accessible driveways, parking areas and connecting routes. The quote identifies the truck, blade, spreader and operator as a working combination. Confirm whether fuel, treatment material and the first load are included.
Hourly rate and minimum: request a current quote. Salt application and material quantity must be identified; a fitted spreader does not mean unlimited salt is included.

For tight manoeuvring, agreed snow stacking and relocation within the site. Attachment, surface conditions, clearance and storage space affect selection. Transporting the machine to the property can be a separate operation.
Hourly rate, minimum and delivery: request a current quote. Confirm operator, attachment, fuel, loading, unloading and pickup before comparing totals.
COMPACT ACCESS
A compact combination may suit an accessible path network where width, turning room, gradients and surfaces allow. It does not replace hand work on steps, and suitability must be reviewed.
Combination rate and availability: request a current quote. Confirm the operator, plow and spreader, treatment material, trailer transport and any separate hand crew. We quote the actual configuration rather than assuming every quad has both attachments.
A local visit and a machine delivered by trailer have different transport costs. Your proposal should identify the departure point, estimated return travel time, travel billing rate, loading and unloading time, delivery and collection charges. Any tolls, disposal or off-site hauling should be stated separately where applicable. There is no universal travel time for Metro Vancouver; route, dispatch location, access and storm conditions matter.
Agreed billable operating hours × the agreed machine-and-operator rate
+ agreed travel hours × the agreed travel rate
+ agreed delivery / pickup
+ materials and other authorized work not already included.
Apply any minimum hours according to the written terms. A minimum is not automatically an additional fee on top of the same hours. Do not add an hourly equipment charge to a per-visit or seasonal price for work already covered, or bill travel again when it is already included in delivery.
No. Internal operating cost covers the defined labour, fuel, maintenance, wear, ownership or rental and allocated overhead. The customer billing rate also needs to support the business and its agreed service obligations. Our public calculator estimates customer service budgets; it does not claim to calculate your contractor’s internal fleet costs.
Only if the agreed hours and complete scope are known. Hand clearing, treatment-only returns, materials, transport and off-site hauling may have different terms. A per-visit or seasonal proposal should say which equipment work is included and which additional work requires authorization.
Normal-condition snowfall and standard access are the starting assumptions. Equipment availability, hourly rates, minimums and transport charges are confirmed in the property proposal. Current pricing comes directly from PlowWow.
