Fairview strata councils and commercial property managers can request a property-specific winter-service proposal from PlowWow. Start with the building address, agreed work areas and access details. Route availability, included visits and timing are confirmed in the accepted agreement.
Fairview Slopes needs an access plan
Hills, narrow approaches and changing street restrictions can affect how equipment reaches a property. Identify entrances, pedestrian routes, stairs and parkade approaches separately. Have the contractor assess suitable equipment and permitted access before booking.
Read the detailed Fairview Slopes hills and street-closure guide.
Define the service scope
List public frontage, internal paths, entrances, parking and any other requested areas on a marked plan. Discuss snow storage, surface finishes, treatment, repeat visits, relocation and visit records. Seasonal pricing does not automatically mean unlimited visits or every service is included.
Confirm winter timing
PlowWow plans around a five-hour service standard after a storm event ends. The agreement should define that trigger, covered work and access requirements. Public sidewalk duties and priority work during ongoing weather need their own agreed arrangements.
Vancouver’s current guidance calls for full-width clearing of adjacent public sidewalks by 10 a.m. daily when snow or freezing conditions affect them, including the side frontage of corner lots. Read the City’s current winter guidance.
Prepare the handover before winter
Choose one property contact and a backup who can respond when a gate is locked, a vehicle blocks an agreed area or conditions change. Use the same names for locations in resident reports and contractor updates. A report that identifies the upper entrance steps is more useful than a general message saying the building is icy.
Check current roadwork notices before relying on a familiar approach. Fairview access arrangements can change; the crew must respect closures and assess whether an alternate route is suitable. Agree how inaccessible work is recorded and how the next action is authorized.
Questions to compare proposals
Ask which surfaces and tasks are priced, what starts a visit, how ongoing snowfall is handled and whether extra treatment or relocation costs more. Confirm the records you will receive instead of assuming GPS reports or photographs are included. Put accepted arrangements in writing so council, residents and contractor share the same expectations.
